The Dark Side of Yelp
The Massachusetts based moving company, Gentle Giant, began noticing a serious drop in the amount of leads coming in for their San Francisco and Seattle offices via Yelp; down almost 20% from only a year ago. Upon further investigation, the company noticed that the Yelp ratings of these offices were down from almost 5 stars to barely above 3 stars, which was troubling considering the amount of 5 star reviews coming in for these regional offices greatly outnumbered the number of lower star reviews.
